Professor Pressman is currently working on a book manuscript on the results of Arab and Israeli reliance on military arms and the threat and use of force. The book illustrates the centrality of force in Arab-Israeli history, policy and rhetoric, e.g. armed struggle and deterrence. It then addresses several negative results or shortcomings including the inability of force to bring about deeper cooperation and peace, the risk of force causing greater insecurity, and the likelihood (and cause) of missed diplomatic opportunities.
